Globalising the Internationale

For «0 Performance», Hemauer/Keller are continuing their Globalising the Internationale international awareness campaign. In this ongoing project they zoom in on the mechanisms of the traditional oil industry and the new directions that alternative sources of energy offer.

In 2008 they wrote a hymn called The Postpetrolistic Internationale together with the composer Mathias Vetter. The Hymn already traveled from Basel to Rotterdam, Aarhus, Ghent, Vigo to Moscow.

The work of the Swiss artists Christina Hemauer and Roman Keller shows profound ecological and political involvement. For several years now they have been studying the legacy of the oil crisis in the seventies, the relationship between energy and power and the way they change the collective memory and human relationships. In 2006 Hemauer/Keller proclaimed the era of Postpetrolism with a manifesto and a commemorative stone to mark the end of the energy age.
